For Reel

About Me

In 2011 I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Studies from Columbia College Chicago. I have directed three films, which you can see here, here, and here, however critical studies interest me more than production.

Originally posting on a Flixster account, I eventually graduated to this domain in March of 2009. I have also contributed to KillerFilm.com, where I reviewed DVDs on a weekly basis (my lengthy DVD reviews are also archived on this page).

Since relaunching For Reel in March of 2011, the page now serves as a viewing journal wherein I provide capsule reviews of everything that I watch.

As of this moment (although they’re likely to change within the hour), my ten favorite films are as follows:

10.) Swing Time (dir. George Stevens, 1936)
09.) Steamboat Bill, Jr. (dir. Charles Reisner & Buster Keaton, 1928)
08.) The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (dir. Jacques Demy, 1964)
07.) Billy Liar (dir. John Schlesinger, 1963)
06.) Notorious (dir. Alfred Hitchcock, 1946)
05.) Three Colors: Blue (dir. Krzysztof Kieslowski, 1993)
04.) Underworld (dir. Josef von Sternberg, 1927)
03.) La Dolce Vita (dir. Federico Fellini, 1960)
02.) Solaris (dir. Andrei Tarkovsky, 1972)
01.) Playtime (dir. Jacques Tati, 1967)
