About Me

meMy name is Eric and I’ve been a film lover for as long as I can remember. In recent years, I’ve become particularly enamored with classic Hollywood (especially the 1930s and 40s), but I do try to expose myself to a wide variety of movies. My all-time favorites are Playtime, Notorious, A Matter of Life and Death, and Solaris. I’m a sucker for all things Ginger Rogers, pre-Code Hollywood, and Studio Ghibli.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Film & Video from Columbia College Chicago and a master’s degree in Cinema & Media Studies from the University of Chicago. My graduate thesis was about prostitutes in pre-Code Hollywood melodramas, focusing on the films Safe in Hell and Waterloo Bridge. I’m a contributor to Cine-File Chicago.
